A forma mais comum de identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de pacientes em centros de sa\u00fade \u00e9 o n\u00famero do quarto ou leito, o diagn\u00f3stico, as caracter\u00edsticas f\u00edsicas ou psicol\u00f3gicas ou o fato de responderem a um nome espec\u00edfico.<\/p>\r\n

Problemas de identifica\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e3o frequentemente associados a complica\u00e7\u00f5es causadas por erros na administra\u00e7\u00e3o de medicamentos, interven\u00e7\u00f5es cir\u00fargicas, testes de diagn\u00f3stico, transfus\u00f5es de sangue e hemoderivados, etc.<\/p>\r\n

De acordo com a American Hospital Association, a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o verbal n\u00e3o deve ser feita porque os pacientes podem estar sedados, desatentos, indiferentes, confusos ou simplesmente incapazes de responder. Os pacientes tamb\u00e9m podem ter barreiras de linguagem e linguagem, problemas auditivos ou ser muito jovens, tudo isso pode aumentar a probabilidade de erros e amea\u00e7ar a seguran\u00e7a do atendimento ao paciente.<\/p>\r\n

Os profissionais de sa\u00fade costumam ter excesso de confian\u00e7a quando se trata da identifica\u00e7\u00e3o do paciente.
